So I'm DJing a Halloween party for some friends tomorrow night. It will be the maiden voyage of my Tapco/JBL PA system so I'll be able to really put it to the test. Should be pretty awesome.

New Sub

My JBL "EON" Series powered subwoofer arrived today! I haven't had a chance to fully test it but this sucker is said to deliver awesome bass! It's an 18-inch sub that puts out 500 watts RMS, 1,000 watts peak. This should combine with my Tapcos to make a fantastic sounding system, can't wait to put it to use!

One of my earliest childhood recollections: I remember my little playmate having one of these, it was the shit!

The Sanity In-Store Was Awesome

I was asked to DJ an in-store on September 12th at Sanity in Chagrin Falls. Sanity had its 1 year anniversary and I was there to help fill in some of the vibe by spinning Chill, House, and Trance.

Sanity is an upscale men's and women's clothing boutique. Retailers take note: these guys really know how to do it proper. Not only is their store chic and LA trendy, but the owners were gracious hosts who stuck to the plan and never asked me to alter the course. I'm telling you now it was an absolute pleasure to DJ for this event. 

I received this really nice email yesterday:

Mobile DJing To The Next Level

Let me preface this by stating THIS IS NOT MY CAR.

In any event, some guy decided to integrate a DJ system into his hatchback. Gives new literal meaning to the term "mobile DJ." Bass in the balls. That's a good thing. You should always face the crowd though. I am inclined to label this a FAIL.

Scion partnered with Pioneer and developed this custom xB. Can you imagine having a party and this thing shows up? Your party fun multiplies by 12,000. Not many DJs could hope to compete with that!

New Speakers Are Here

Finally, after a bit of comparison shopping, I now have a definite upgrade in sound. These are Tapco Thumps. These speakers are actually engineered and manufactured by Mackie, a leader in professional audio systems.

Tapco is a subsidiary of Mackie and their speakers are assembled in China per Mackie's specs, which means a lower cost of goods. Translation: I can actually afford them. I ordered the speakers from American Musical Supply. Shipping was free and I also received a set of free stands, which was nice. I have been wanting to upgrade my sound for awhile and this was a deal I could not pass up.

The Thumps are pretty big. They're powered and handle close to 600 watts... quite a step up from the paltry 100 watts I was running for small parties. At around 35 lbs, they are lightweight too; I can heave them up onto their stands with no problem.

Best of all, these speakers put out some really nice sound. I've already done some preliminary tests and I can tell you right now, these things sound sweet no matter what type of music I throw at them. And god almighty, are they loud! My neighbor across the street heard them on Saturday as I was testing them in my garage with the door down. He said to me, and I quote, "My kitchen table was vibrating and my little girl was dancing to the beat in her high-chair!"

I'm very eager to get these out on the road.
